Inwood Goes to Vote, 72% of Population Is Immigrant

Washington Heights and Inwood extend from 155th Street to the northern tip of Manhattan. With nearly half of its population comprised of immigrants and 72% self-identifying as Hispanic or Latino according to New York census data, the area is also home to the largest Dominican community in the city.

As Latino voters across the country flock to the polls in record numbers to cast their ballots in the 2016 presidential election, a handful of New Yorkers in the neighborhood weigh in.
